First Aid at Work course (FAW)

The First Aid at Work qualification is the full three-day certification required for higher-risk workplaces. It goes beyond the basics, covering major trauma, illness management and ongoing casualty care. If your workplace involves physical risk (construction, manufacturing, warehousing or large teams), this is the qualification your first aiders need. Delivered in Bracknell and across Berkshire by a qualified paramedic.

Who is this course for?

  • This course is for first aiders in higher-risk environments, including:
  • Construction and trades
  • Manufacturing and warehousing
  • Factories and industrial sites
  • Any workplace where a risk assessment indicates a full first aider is required

If your workplace is lower-risk, the one-day  Emergency First Aid at Work course  may be all you need.

How the course works

You can complete this course in two ways:

Blended learning (recommended)

Complete the theory online in your own time, then join us for the practical days. This cuts down on time away from work while still covering everything required for the full qualification.

Face-to-face (three days)

Prefer to do it all in person? We can deliver the full course at your workplace, at a local venue, or at our base in Bracknell.

What you will learn

  • CPR, AED use and managing an unresponsive casualty
  • Choking in adults and children
  • Managing major bleeding, shock and wounds
  • Fractures, dislocations and spinal injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Recognising heart attack, stroke and seizure
  • Chest injuries and breathing difficulties
  • Diabetes, allergic reactions and poisoning
  • Ongoing casualty care and incident reporting

  • Duration: 3 days (or blended learning)
  • Qualification: First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ)
  • Compliance: HSE-compliant
  • Valid for: 3 years
