Paediatric First Aid course (12 hours)
Our full paediatric first aid course covers a comprehensive range of emergencies involving infants and children. It is the qualification required by most registered childcare and early years settings, and it is fully Ofsted-compliant. Available as blended learning or face-to-face, and taught by a qualified paramedic in Bracknell and across Berkshire.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone working in a registered childcare or early years setting who needs the full paediatric first aid qualification, including:
- Nursery managers and practitioners
- Childminders
- Early years teachers and teaching assistants
- Out-of-school club staff
If you only need the shorter qualification, our Emergency Paediatric First Aid course covers the core emergencies in a single day.
How the course works
You can complete this course in two ways:
Blended learning (recommended)
Complete the theory online in your own time, then join us for a face-to-face practical day. This is our most popular option for childcare teams because it cuts down on time away from your setting while still giving you the hands-on practice you need.
Face-to-face (two days)
Prefer to do everything in person? We can deliver the full course over two days at your setting, at a local venue, or at our base in Bracknell.

What you will learn
- Assessing and managing emergency situations involving children
- CPR and AED use for infants and children
- Managing a choking infant or child
- Dealing with bleeding, shock and fractures
- Recognising and responding to seizures
- Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions
- Head injuries and spinal management
- Common childhood illnesses and when to seek help
